Computer Network

We have recently upgraded our network infrastructure to be in line with the Ministry of Educations digital roadmap.   We have been working with our new hybrid system using cloud-based solutions and onsite physical and virtual servers since 2017.  With a more resilient and robust system this has increased collaboration and flexible computing solution. Students and staff can access their work anywhere, anytime and on any modern device using Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite accounts.

Firewall – N4L is our services provider who manage our internet usage to ensure our students access the digital world is through their safe and secure Managed Network using industry-leading safety and security tools creating a safer online environment. This gives our school confidence to use digital technology for learning which supports the New Zealand Government’s goals for education.

KAMAR – is our Student Management System which is managed onsite.  Our Database administrator has extensive knowledge managing the systems.

Telecommunications – Our telephones are a VOIP phone system that also uses the internet.  Although we do not have physical phones in every classroom our teachers have virtual phone extensions assigned to them, should you choose to leave a message an email is generate with your voicemail message attached for the teachers to make contact.

Computer Suites and COW’s – we have 2 computer labs that house 25 pc’s each.  We also have COW’s (Computers on Wheels) that are distributed around the school.

College Canteen

In Term 3, our canteen will be redesigned and upgraded to meet the needs of staff and students. It offers a wide range of foods. For the convenience of students, especially those who travel by bus the canteen is open before school as well as interval and lunch. All canteen profits are used to benefit the educational needs of the students. The service is run by a manager with two part-time helpers.

Health Clinics

A Health Clinic is run in conjunction with Pacific Health. Students may access this on a regular basis. Appointments can be made through the main office. A doctor is also in attendance on a weekly basis.

Students can access extensive amounts of information from books, the Internet with a subscription to Te Puna and inter-loan facilities with the National Library. A fully computerised database networked to classes provides ease of access to library information throughout the college. Colour and plain copiers are available in the library for student use. The library is also equipped with 30 bookable computers.

Student Services Centre

A Student Services Centre houses the Guidance Counsellors located in the administration block. The facility is a relaxed, warm environment where students can visit at prearranged times to see the Guidance Counsellor.

Gymnasium & Swimming Pool

A well equipped gymnasium with a new spring floor installed in 2018, new Basketball court turf and large playing fields are complemented by a solar heated 30 metre swimming pool which is extensively used throughout summer by the community as well as the school.

Horticulture Department

An extensive Horticulture Department with an adjacent specialist laboratory provides tutoring in agriculture and horticulture at all NCEA levels. The horticulture area covers more than 2 hectares.

Music Suite

Sadly our music suite perished in the 2017 floods along with various music equipment.  In the interim the music department is now located next to the school hall.  We have slowly replenished equipment destroyed in the flood.  We have a wide range of musical instruments and computers that are well used by our music students.  the plans for the new music department will be incorporated with the new design of the school hall.
